Decided to keep our 87 gt and had a rebuilt long block dropped into it.

Since it has come back from the shop the rad fan runs all the time, we have since changed all temp sensors, and two pig tails. Still it runs all the time, does anyone have any suggestions. When put onto the diagnostics nothing comes up.  The shop where it was done says not to worry, I dont consider this an appropriate anwser. The fan should not be running at all times.   Now I should mention that the shop  took out the ac condensor because it was so plugged and I couldnt afford to have it replaced at this time, would this have anything to do with the fan.  Grasping at straws. any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Laura

The Rad Fan, is a very simple system.  The Fan Switch is a single wire, switch on the engine next to the coolant fill cap/thermostat housing.   You said you replaced a few temp sensors. Did you replace one that only has 1 wire?

It is a single green wire, that snakes through the cabin to the "Fan Relay" If at any point, that single green wire was grounded out, either intentionally or unintentionally, it would cause the fan to turn on as soon as the ignition is turned on.  Or if someone left the A/C button turned on.  The A/C buttons can trigger the Fan, regardless of the fact the A/C system is disabled.    I would open the front compartment and make sure there is no monkey wires anywhere in the fan harness.  If that all looks good, I would to to engine bay and find the fan switch and see if someone cut the wire and bolted it to ground.

I would really have to see the car to show you everything.  However IIRC you are not in the lower mainland.   Any shop that tells you "Ah just leave it", when you ask them to fix something they damaged is a shop I would not be going back to.
