I got a 1985 Pontiac Fiero V6. Im just asking, how much liter do I put in it. On the internet, My fiero can take 40L. So i tried it. Empty my gas tank and try it. BUT It only took 25-30L. If I take more fuel then it will overflow and the gas will come out. Any help here???

Chances are there's still fuel in the tank when the gauge
is reading zero. That's the only thing I can think of. It's the same in my car. |

At least your gauge is reading on the wrong side that way!
Most Fieros run out of gas when the gauge reads 1/4 tank. The 85's had a slightly smaller tank than the 86/7/8's which were (45L?). |

When I had my gas tank off I cleaned the resistor on the sending unit
and I can drive till my gauge goes to zero. (although I haven't tried going past 1/16th). Before cleaning it would read full constantly and resistance was 3 times that required to max the gauge. |

Totally common problem...
It should read between 0 and 90 ohms, with a linear sweep between. Sort of need a graphing meter to really see it, and to see if you have high or low spots. But in a pinch a normal meter will do. They get varnished over the years. Almost all GM fuel level sensors do it! |

84-86 10.3 Gallons or about 40 liters 87-88 11.9 Gallons or about 50 liters Basic rule Empty on an 85 is 30 liters empty on an 88 is 40 liters. They usually have about a gallon or 2 in the tank after a correct gauge reads empty. Side note for those that don't know, the Fuel Pump is cooled by fuel running through it, if you run a Fiero pump empty you reduce its life considerably. So don't make a habit out of running out of gas or you will get in the habit of replacing fuel pumps. |
