OK, its a go. I'm starting a new thread in case some missed the discussion in the wrap up thread.
Here is a link to all the details:

Everyone needs to be at TBC in Richmond for 5:00PM on Sunday the 27th. THAT'S THIS SUNDAY COMING UP.

Cheap price racing starts at 6:00PM but there are forms to fill out and the payment to deal with.
The cost is only $10 per 20 minute race. That's cheap. Let me tell you, 20 minutes at full speed on a tight track is a work out. I would probably only expect to last 3 races maximum.
It all depends on who you're racing with and how wimped out the cars are.
Have fun!

I'll hold off on the whole "entourage" until I hear how many people are going.
Is the plan that we're all trying to be on the track at the same time?
If so, what is the maximum number of people allowed on the track for each race?

Wrong console with all the right games. I really tried to like Gran Turismo, but you guys are celebrating the fact you caught up to Forza.
Damage! In car views! Realistic tire physics! No other game (On the PS3...) has these things!
Forza may not have 40 different Skylines ( http://gamerlimit.com/2010/11/gran-turismo-5s-car-list-is-sorely-disappointing/ - Not a joke ) but I find everything it has, it does better than Gran Turismo (Engine/Drivetrain swaps, tuning, paint, bodywork, and the actual driving physics). Personal taste though.

Tire physics... And automotive relations... Aw hell, I don't know. Point being: Toca > Forza > Gran Turismo > Shift
On topic, it's Go-Karting. The 'k' makes it kool, like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cs3ROFNxa5M - Mortal Kombat.

It turns out that I will not be bringing an "entourage" along. With this reduction in numbers, I'm now hoping that the number of us who'll be participating will not exceed the maximum number of speedfreaks allowed on the track at one time. I believe that lucky number is 13 from what I've read here.
It looks like the main goal of the evening will be to lap Tristan and to avoid Damien (who'll be projectile hurling).

Just a heads up, hot off the Environment Canada website. I doubt it will all be gone for Sunday. So better keep them snow tires on the car. It will be the worst for people coming from east of the Port Mann.
Summary
Snowfall accumulations of 5 to 10 cm for metro Vancouver on Saturday.Snowfall accumulations of 10 to 15 cm for the Fraser Valley and central coast on Saturday. This is a warning that significant snowfall is expected or occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements.

I'm guessing the Kart's will have two things I do not:
- A full contact patch on the tires.
- Proper alignment.
Guessing wont have something I do:
- Busted up suspension, minus rear shocks.
I'll be skating circles around everyone. I'm gonna be a flaming blur with my helmet on.

Nope....the guy said at least an hour! So 5:00 PM at the latest.
The issue is trying to insure everyone gets the chance at a few good races together. There will be others there also and it's first in first out. The quicker you get all the paper work done the sooner you can get on the list for the 6:00 PM racing.
So everyone fills out the forms and pays. Then we tell them that we would like to race together. If we're there first we get to choose. You can choose to wait out the first race if it looks like too many of us missed the cut off.
Get the idea?

Brian, are you sure that wasn't a one-shot affair, possibly just a bad day for the ventilation system there?
I was at TBC about four years ago, racing for over an hour, and I didn't notice the air quality was all that bad. Certainly never got a headache from it.
The air quality was much worse in any local bar or club years ago. I used to want to burn my clothes to get rid of the cigarette stench after a night out on the town.

I don't want to be one of those yahoos, so I'm afraid I'm not going anywhere today. My '84 is the only vehicle I have access to presently, and no, I don't have snow tires.
The main streets have been cleared here, but I'll never get to them.
I guess I'll be the first to suggest then that we postpone this a week or whatever. And no, not just because I can't go. I'm sure others who wanted to go karting are in the same situation.
We can have this type of club get-together any day of the year, so IMO it seems unnecessary to proceed with it on the same day we get our one relatively large dump of snow this winter.
Anyway, I'm fine with whatever the club as a whole decides to do (although I won't be going nevertheless).

LOL, that decision makes this post so much easier. I was dreading coming on here to say that I won't be going. I think the human body must share some parts with an automotive engine. Cause when you fix only the top or bottom of an engine, the other half almost always blows. Well I had my right knee fixed last year, and last night, while moving up a few stairs, my left knee cap, slid to one side and then proceeded to lock up my leg. I am moving around now, but sore as hell and swollen up. SO even if the carts were on I was going to have to cancel. I am glad it is being done another day, as I really enjoyed it on my stag.

Jeez Dave, I'm kind of relieved to hear it's your knee that's acting up, as I didn't want to hear about your bottom.
Take care of your knee(s). Send Lisa outside to shovel the sidewalk.

I'll be there in case somebody shows up. If nobody else does, than I'll have the track to myself.
The roads are bare where I am and my MINI has snowtires. So I should be able to get there.

Well. Lesson learned.
TBC was booked full for the night. I take it nobody booked a reservation for us. Next time we do this on a Sunday evening, we need to book a reservation and have firm commitments.
I would also suggest that those who have Entertainment coupon books bring their coupons.

Nope had no idea. I don't remember seeing anything about reservations and the guy never mentioned it when he emailed me. All he said was get there at least an hour early.
Well, let me find out what it takes to make a reservation and then we can talk about rescheduling.

Those were cars that couldn't make it home through the snowdrifts.
In retrospect I guess we were pretty naive to think that a group of us could just turn up there on a Sunday evening (during the reduced price time) and all get on the track together. Apparently, everyone else and their dog has the same idea.

Ken:
I have sent an email regarding the procedures involved in pre-registering. I haven't heard back yet.
I'll send them another one.

In the process of sending the latest email I ran across this review. It explains a lot I think.
Well maintained cars and great track make for
an excellent on-track experience. Off-track, be prepared for variable
and disappointing customer service. Lost reservations, snotty cashiers,
and a general disdain for customers are a long held tradition of the
staff at TBC. I've been bringing a group to TBC every year
for my birthday since 2004, and we have NEVER made it through the
reservation and signup part of the evening without an uncomfortable
exchange with TBC's incompetent and cocky staff. If there were another track close to Vancouver, we'd NEVER go back to TBC based on their reputation for extremely poor customer service.
In the end, it may be better to pick a full price day, at least we'll get to race.
As soon as I hear more I'll pass it along.

I saw something on the UBCSCC forum recently about a go kart place near Sumas. http://forum.ubcscc.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=4338 - http://forum.ubcscc.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=4338
Looks like the place is only about 15 minutes away from me.

I just went to the website and holy sh*t! We're talking a serious place here. They actually have "real" carts to rent too not just the regular ones.
The prices are WAY more however. Not practical for a club meet I don't think.
Good place if we ever want to step it up a bit.

| The Sumas Go-Kart centre is pretty damn awesome, excellent track too. Couple of points though:
We can't use the competition karts (Those are the ultra-quick, 140km/h top speed ones) as they require a special license from the actual go-kart centre itself.
The lower end karts arn't as evenly-matched as they say. Racing in a few different karts, you'll be in one that is several km/h faster than others, and other karts that are noticably slower than other karts.
Despite those two things, I had a fantastic time last time I went, and even with an extremely large group of people, the track is just right to keep things intense. Passing in particular feels exhilirating as some spots barely have enough room to support two karts side-by-side, making for an adrenalized-heat between the two.

I don't go very often, but I have been to TBC a few times, including before Dave and Lisa got married on their wedding day. I have not had any bad experience with the staff there. I suspect if you look around, you can find a bad review about pretty well anything and anywhere. If I'm upset enough, even I can write a bad review. I would take any bad review with a grain of salt, as well as any overly good sounding review of any place. The fact that there is a bad review just indicates to me that the people there are human and are capable of having a bad day every now and then. For some reason, however, TBC remains busy enough to stay in business.
There are other good outdoor goKart tracks around also. F440 comes to mind.
http://www.f440.com/ - F440
I have an Entertainment book and can probably get coupons from others who won't be using their TBC coupons. If we can find a time where 5 or more can make the timeslot to commit and front up money in advance, we should have no problem booking a timeslot and go racing together. Otherwise, there is no reason we have to make this a club event.
