Hi there, new to the site. i have a 1985 fiero se, and its a bit of a work in progress, so i decided to join this to get in touch with the people that know fieros best. Anyways, the car's rear wheels are sitting in a diagnol way, and when i push the car, they sometimes straighten out. but the inside of the rim where the wieghts are were rubbing on something. i pulled the worse of the two rims off, and there is an awful lot of play in the hub, i can pull on the lug bolts and it shifts in and out, as well as up and down. it seems to be too much slack. i'm assuming its the wheel bearings but i'd like to know for sure if at all possible. school is almost over and i have it at the shop there, and im hoping to be able to have it on the road for the summer. another thing is my clutch. we've tried various ways of bleeding it but its just not getting the proper amount of movement. someone has mentioned to me to try gravity bleeding it so could i get some instructions for that? and how long would it take? Any info is better than what i got and ill gladly take your advice!

Hi Phil! Welcome.
Yes if the wheel is moving in all directions it's almost certainly the bearing. Just have someone watch the rest of the suspension when you move the wheel. Does anything else move too? In the rear, it's rare to have any up and down movement unless it's the bearings. As for the clutch, yes you need to have the nose of the car up hill ideally. This lets the air go back to the master cylinder. Use a power bleeder, it works best. If there is still not enough movement then it's not a bleeding issue. The Dawg |
